  103.       The Ultimate Quiz was first written using AMOS V1.3 and later
  104.       updated using AMOS Pro V2.0.
  105.       Please note that there is only one command in the code which is
  106.       now NOT comapatible with AMOS 1.3.
  107.       The command is POKE$.

  109.       I'm sure that AMOS (original) owners could use another command
  110.       instead of POKE$.

  115.       The Ultimate Quiz has been tested on:

  117.       A500       (1.3 with GVP HD and Fast Mem)

  119.       A1200      (Standard model)
  120.       A1200      (120mb hard disk & External floppy drive)
  121.       A4000/040  (2 meg Chip & 16 Meg Fast)

  124.       4. Loading Instructions:

  126.       From WorkBench: Just double click on the games icon.
  127.       From CLI      : Just type in the games filename.

  131.       If this game is to be included on a compilation disk:

  133.       First of all you must check that all files are present
  134.       and named correctly:
  135.  
  136.       QUIZ         This is the actual game program.
  137.  
  138.       (This can be renamed to anything you like. It can also be
  139.       Crunched with Power Packer etc.)
  140.  
  141.       Quiz.Data    This is the data file Question Block.
  142.  
  143.       >>> *** Never rename or Crunch the 'Quiz.Data' File !!! *** <<<

  145.       The Quiz.Data file can be placed anywhere on your disks.
  146.       The easiest place to put it is in the Parent/Root Dir.
  147.       (Not in any drawers/directories.)
  148.  
  149.       If you need to put the Quiz.Data file inside a Dir then you will
  150.       have to use an Assign Command in your Startup-Sequence like this:
  151.  
  152.       Assign The_Quiz: DiskName:DirName
  153.  
  154.       eg. If you put the Quiz.Data file in a dir called Games on a disk
  155.           called Comp. then the Assign would look like this:

  157.       Assign The_Quiz: Comp:Games

  159.       The actual code will search these devices for the Quiz.Data file:

  163.       The Floppy Disk can be named anything you like !

  165.       This software does NOT require any extra Libraries etc to run.

  173.       5. THE ULTIMATE QUIZ Volume 1:
  174.       ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~~~ ~~

  176.       (PLAYING INSTRUCTIONS)

  178.       This game is played by using your Mouse.
  179.  
  180.       The Intro can be skipped by pressing your Left Mouse Button.
  181.  
  182.       You will then see the Game Playing Screen .....

  184.       (THE HELP BUTTON)

  186.       If selected, you will be greeted with a neat vertical scrolly text
  187.       message on the screen.
  188.  
  189.       You can quit it by pressing (as always), the left mouse button.
  190.       Or it will quit itself when the message is complete.

  192.       (STARTING A GAME)
  193.       -----------------
  194.       If you click anywhere else other than the Help Button then this
  195.       message will appear on the main screen window ...

  197.                          GAME ON - PRESS START

  199.       You will also notice that the START Button is flashing and that
  200.       the mouse pointer is limited to that button only.

  202.       To display the questions - press the left mouse button when the
  203.       START Button is flashing.
  204.  
  205.       O.K. The first question & three answer options will now appear
  206.       on the screen in a typewriter kind of fashion !
  207.  
  208.       You will notice that the three answer options are colour coded
  209.       to match the A,B and C Buttons at the bottom of the screen.
  210.       (Good one for the kids.)
  211.  
  212.       The mouse pointer will now be positioned above the A,B & C buttons.
  213.       You can now select either A,B or C to answer the question.
  214.  
  215.       You are limited to the amount of time you take to answer each
  216.       question.
  217.  
  218.       (THE TIMER)
  219.       -----------
  220.       The Timer Bar will start to scroll away whilst playing some
  221.       countdown music after the question has been printed on screen.
  222.  
  223.       The Timer & Music will stop when you have either run out of time
  224.       or if you select A,B or C.

  226.       (SCORING)
  227.       ---------
  228.       You start each game with:
  229.  
  230.       0 points
  231.       3 credits
  232.  
  233.       If you answer a question correctly then you will gain 10 points.
  234.       If you answer a question wrongly then you will lose 1 credit !
  235.       If the Timer runs out then you also lose 1 precious credit !
  236.  
  237.       A total of 1000 points are available in each game played.
  238.       10 points * 100 questions.
  239.  
  240.       Each question is picked at random. This means you won't ever play
  241.       them in the same order each time you play. This gives the game a
  242.       longer lasting appeal I think.
  243.  
  244.       This also means that you have a chance of beating the HiScore
  245.       instead of only getting so far into the Quiz and getting stuck 
  246.       at the exact same spot each time.
  247.  
  248.       (GAME OVER)
  249.       -----------
  250.       The Game Over screen only appears when you have no more credits or
  251.       if you have attempted all 100 questions.
  252.  
  253.       Your Rating will be shown at the bottom of the screen too.
  254.  
  255.       The HiScore will only reach 1000 points maximum. Can you do it ?
  256.  
  257.       That's basically it !
  258.  
  259.       Click on START when its flashing to play the next question.
  260.       Click on A,B or C to answer it.
  261.       Watch out for the Timer.
  262.       Watch out for your Credits.
  263.       Try and reach a new HiScore.

  308.               Added all 10 question blocks.
  309.               (In other words ... I typed in another 900 questions !)
  310.               Revamped the code to load other question blocks.
  311.               Did some work to the HD Installer so that it now Installs
  312.               only the game and data files to HD.
  313.               Removed the SHAREWARE MESSAGE screen and scrolly text.
  314.               Added a new INTRO pic displaying REGISTERED COPY.
  315.               A bigger, better game really.
